THE PROBLEM

Excessive screen time disrupts family bonds, causing detachment and communication gaps.

The project addresses the modern challenge of diminishing parent-child interaction and family bonding in the digital age. It confronts concerns stemming from excessive screen time, digital distractions, and parental anxieties about technology's role in child development.

Furthermore, the project delves into the need for fostering intergenerational learning, acknowledging the value of collaborative educational activities between parents and children. It recognizes the importance of shared experiences in promoting cognitive development, language skills, and emotional intelligence in children. Through its interventions, the project seeks to bridge generational gaps and facilitate meaningful interactions that transcend digital barriers, fostering a harmonious family dynamic in the digital era.

HIGH LEVEL TIMELINE

Balancing a comprehensive design process within time constraints poses challenges for thorough research, testing, and iteration

USER SELECTION

Identifying and engaging the right mix of product users for effective testing, especially in diverse family settings, presents a challenge in capturing varied perspectives and needs.

KEY GOAL

Provide a platform for enriching parent-child relationships through interactive and educational engagement.

MY ROLE

As UX Designer, Researcher, and Writer, I shaped an innovative children's library, intertwining empathy, design, and storytelling.

As the UX Designer, UX Researcher, and UX Writer for this project, I undertook a multifaceted role to ensure a seamless and user-centric design process. In the capacity of a UX Designer, my focus was on crafting visually appealing and functional digital interfaces. I translated insights from the research phase into actionable design challenges during the Define stage, creating personas, storyboards, and prototypes.

Simultaneously, as a UX Researcher, I delved into understanding user needs, preferences, and pain points. Through methods like mind mapping, Crazy8 sessions, and usability testing, I gathered valuable feedback that informed design decisions, ensuring that the design not only looked good but was grounded in user insights.

And as a UX Writer, I curated compelling narratives and ensured clear communication within the design. From crafting stories in the Define phase to refining text elements in the Hi-Fidelity Prototype, I played a pivotal role in creating a cohesive and engaging user experience. This triad of responsibilities empowered me to lead the project from empathetic problem definition to the creation of an impactful and inclusive digital children's library.

UNDERSTANDING THE USER

Navigating user intricacies, I crafted designs with empathy, weaving seamless experiences. Iteratively refining, each interaction whispers understanding and addresses their unique desires.

Understanding my users was paramount in crafting a tailored digital library experience. Extensive research, including empathetic interviews and observation, allowed me to unravel their needs, preferences, and pain points. These insights were distilled into personas, breathing life into the diverse user base and guiding the design process with a human-centered approach.

Beyond quantitative data, I delved into qualitative nuances, fostering a deep understanding of user behaviors and motivations. Iterative testing and feedback loops fine-tuned the design, ensuring it resonated authentically with the users' expectations and desires. This user-centric ethos underpinned the development of a digital library that not only addressed functional requirements but also catered to the emotional and experiential needs of the diverse user community.

Engaging with my users

I gleaned insights, crafted personas, and iteratively refined designs, ensuring a user-centric digital library experience.

BREAKING DOWM THE PROCESS

Navigating user insights through Empathize, I defined challenges, crafted compelling narratives in Ideation, and sculpted tangible prototypes and refined high-fidelity designs, ensuring an enriching digital library for families.

In the transformative journey of designing a digital children's library, the process unfolded through distinct phases. Commencing with Empathize, I dived into user insights, sculpting personas and storyboards that lent faces and narratives to the target audience. Defined, I honed these insights, crafting design challenges and a problem statement, anchoring my focus. Storytelling wove these elements into a compelling narrative, fostering empathy and ensuring a user-centric design foundation.

Transitioning into Ideation, a mind map became my visual compass, navigating potential solutions within the expansive landscape of user pain points and insights. The Crazy8 session ignited a whirlwind of ideation, pushing me to explore diverse design possibilities swiftly. Ideation birthed the seeds for the subsequent phases, steering me towards a plethora of design directions.
